Albert Crompton (1843–1908) was a British corporate manager, legal professional, and a prominent figure in the Positivist movement.

He was born into a prominent legal and intellectual family, being one of the sons of Sir Charles Crompton, a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench. His brother Henry Crompton was also a noted Positivist and trade union advocate.

He was educated at Harrow School and subsequently attended Trinity College, Cambridge.

He was admitted to the Inner Temple, though records note variations regarding his call status or professional trajectory compared to his brothers who practiced law formally.

Relocating to Liverpool, Crompton transitioned into maritime commerce and corporate management. He served as a key manager for Alfred Holt’s Ocean Steamship Company (commonly known as the Blue Funnel Line) from 1882 until 1901.

Deeply influenced by the sociological and philosophical doctrines of Auguste Comte (Positivism), Albert Crompton became a leader in the movement outside London.

He founded and subsequently led the Positivist Church (or Church of Humanity) in Liverpool, guiding its congregation and fostering its distinct secular-religious practices until his death in 1908.

While at Cambridge, connection to elite intellectual societies like the Cambridge Apostles formed part of the broader milieu of his academic circle, though his adult life became principally anchored around his professional career in Liverpool and his devotion to the Positivist Church.
